A Walk About Town – Denver – Part 2

And here’s the rest of your snowy March night in Denver…

Snow in Downtown Denver

Them are some dedicated hoes.

Pretty little walk.

We’re in LoDo here. That’s Lower Downtown… The urban redevelopment in the area is really cool. The building there that says ‘seeds’ has been converted to lofts and apartments. The whole area is full of these old grain elevators and factories that have been renovated. Good stuff.

And there’s my train home. And it didn’t come a second too soon. Damn it was a cold night.

And with that, it’s damn near bed time.  Maybe I’ll show you some pictures of my little host town out here soon.  Maybe London.  Hey, you never know.  Goodnight from Kadan, CZ.

A Walk About Town – Denver

During my last little stint at home, I made a point to spend an evening in downtown Denver.  It’s a gorgeous city, and it breaks my heart that I don’t get more time to like, screw around and go to Rockies games and bars and like hang out and shit.

Turns out that the March evening I picked for my little stroll about town was an incredibly wet and snowy little night.  Froze my ass off, but it made for an awfully pretty setting.  Have a look, if you feel so compelled….

Waiting for my train…

Hey, there it is.

You can tell Denver’s the shit cause we have a Hard Rock.

This sign totally changes color…

Helluva lot of snow…

That’s one cold ass cowboy.

Snow in Downtown Denver

The Brown Palace Hotel, kind of a landmark around here.

Snow in Downtown Denver

Ok, the old churches in Denver aren’t nearly as impressive as those in Germany.  Pretty though.

Snow in Downtown Denver

I dunno why, but I kinda like this wall.

And these dumpsters.

Coors Field

And I’ll leave you with Coors Field, a damn pretty ballpark, and the home of your Colorado Rockies.

One more round of Denver pictures coming soon…  Then it’s off to England.

Don’t be a stranger.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Alright…  Been a couple months, let’s see if I remember how to do this.

But Brett, you’re living in Europe, why haven’t you been posting?  A perfectly reasonable question.  Unfortunately, I’ve been more working in Europe than living here.  As I write this I’m sitting in the Hotel Split in Kadan, Czech Republic, my home for the time being while I install a laser-measurey-thingy in the power plant in the nearby intersection of a town, Tusimice.

The good news is that I’ve still found some time here and there to do the travelling and picture-taking.  I’ve poked around London and Prague and a few other less dramatic places.  And, with a little luck, this job won’t be as strenuous as most, and I’m hoping to find the time to share some of that crap with you, my dear reader.

For starters, Colorado.  My home, or the closest thing I’ve got anyway.  A while back I got a 10-day reprieve from Europe, more to reset the 90 consecutive days I’m legally allowed to spend in Europe than anything else.  But, while I was back I got a chance to mess around Denver and the mountains a little bit.  You might have seen the little movie I put together from my strolls around Denver (and if you haven’t, you should check out the post before this one), and now it’s time for some pictures.

So without further ado, here’s a selection of mediocre cell phone pictures of, you guessed it, The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains….

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

For starters, the view from my old man’s place in Livermore, Colorado. Tucked away at the base of the Rockies in Northern, CO…

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Crappy cell phone picture of the Denver skyline.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

In downtown Denver now.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Slightly less crappy cell phone picture of the Denver skyline.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

En route to check out a Denver Nuggets basketball game…

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Here we are.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

The Pepsi Center, home of the Nuggets and our hockey team, the Avalance.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Alright, enough of the city, headed back to my dad’s. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere on highway 287.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Alright, enough of the pavement. Beautiful Larimer country road 80C.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

The road to nowhere with a touch of snow.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Climbing up the hills. Turns out there’s a good reason that RV pulled over, I damn near got stuck not 500 feet later…

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Open range up in here.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Goddamn traffic…

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Here it is, the mountain retreat.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

The next morning the sun came out. Blue skies, sunshine and snow. Don’t tell anyone winter in Colorado is this pretty.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Panoramic from the driveway.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

The open space hiking trails about 2 miles down the road.

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

I’m getting homesick…

The Mile High City and the Rocky Mountains

Last one. Love, love this view.

Come back soon for a closer look and downtown Denver, CO.

Don’t be a stranger.
