Perusing Pittsburgh Part 2

Tonight, I’m sitting around in the Hampton Inn in Indiana, PA sipping cheap red wine from a paper cup.  It doesn’t get a whole lot lonelier than that.  But, on Monday, I flew into Pittsburgh on my way here, and while Indiana doesn’t have a whole lot going on, other than the Jimmy Stewart museum of course, on each of my previous trips out here I noticed that Pittsburgh was a surprisingly pretty place.  So even though I’m totally ambivalent towards “Rear Window,” I decided to defer Indiana and pass on the museum to take one of my three hour tours instead.

My plane got in around 3:00.  I punched some random downtown parking garage into my GPS, popped in my earbuds and turned on my audiobook (cause I’m a baller like that) and by 4:30 I was wandering aimlessly about the Steel City.  Luckily, a friend of mine is dating a girl from Pittsburgh, and she was kind enough to give me a pointer or two, so I wasn’t flying completely blind.

After a few hours of strolling around, and a pretty descent dinner by the Monongahela River (the Mon, if you’re not an out of towner), I rode the Mon Incline up to the top of Mount Washington to take in the rather breathtaking view of the skyline…

Anywho, today the little stroll continues.  Have a look…

That’s all for today…  And not to hold out on you, but I’m totally holding out on you.  Coming soon, the view from the top of Mount Washington…  And not to overhype it, but I’m totally gonna overhype it.  The USA Today called it the 2nd prettiest place in the entire country.  I was wholly skeptical at first, but then I saw it.  So I highly recommend that you come back and see it for yourself.  Goodnight from Indiana.
