The Musée du Louvre

The first destination on the agenda for our day of hiking around Paris was the Musée du Louvre…  Well, we didn’t actually go inside to see the museum, and Wikipidea has informed me that the building itself which houses the world’s most visited art museum is actually called the Palais du Louvre, the Louvre Palace…  So technically, I guess that’s what we saw…

This place is right up there on the list of random impressive European shit I’ve had the pleasure of seeing during my rather modest time as a tourist out there.  Being the ignorant American that I am, I was completely blown away by the sheer size and scope of the place.  I guess 17th century French kings had a buck or two lying around, and it shows.

I suppose I should just shut up and let you see for yourself…  So here ya go.

Louis the 14th. I was sort of surprised to see a giant statue of him here. If my memory of my high school A.P. European history class serves me correctly, he was the guy that moved the French monarchy to Versailles...

There she be.

The courtyard is a pretty solid place to do some loitering.

And, one can loiter with a pretty decent view.

Lotta at le Louvre... I like this shot.

I'm guessing that arm just took a picture of them... And from the looks of it, that lady isn't horribly impressed.

Good lunch spot, I suppose.

Uh oh Steven, looks like the French are riding on your coattails...

Place is frickin' enormous.

Like this picture too... Ms. Müller leading us out of the Louvre, and on to Notre Dame...

That’s all for today…  Tomorrow we make our way over to the Notre Dame Cathedral.  Come back and join us on our little stroll…
