The Road to Amsterdam

On Sunday Glen and I got a rare opportunity.  An entire day to do whatever the shit we wanted in Europe.  Turns out Amsterdam is about a 3 hour drive from our home away from home this week, and as such, we drove there.

We left the hotel at around 11:00 AM, got there at 2:00, walked around till 6:00 and got back ‘home’ at around 9:00 PM.  Not the most relaxing day off ever, but it was tons of fun, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to at the very least lay eyes on the place.

Amsterdam is a beautiful city, but the first challenge was getting there.  Driving in the big cities of Europe is not a horribly easy task.  This place was nowhere near as stressful as Paris but the Dutch street signs and the incredibly narrow, heavily-trafficked streets were still pretty hairy.

But I was still stupid enough to be snapping blackberry pictures while I attempted to navigate the above, and here they are.

So yes, I have the green light, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there train has the right of way.

The Amsterdam Centraal train station, our destination, in the background.

And... The first picture I took upon ascending out of the Amsterdam Centraal parking garage.

That was the trip there, actual Amsterdam coming tomorrow…
