The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden – Part 1

If you read the last post you saw the rather ugly travel day I had en route to Miami.  Well, on Friday, I had a much prettier day.  It was partly cloudy and cool.  Now that’s Miami-cool, not Colorado-cool, it was 75 wonderful degrees, but still not exactly beach weather.  So the girl and I visited the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables instead of South Beach.  It was a fantastic little break from shitty travel days and the hustle and bustle.  Beautiful, serene place for a stroll, but I suppose pictures will speak louder than words about the place, so enjoy.

The view that greeted us as we walked through the gate.

Lots of little modern art-ish sculptures around....

It was also a good place to play with the zoom lens. The girl on the other side of the lake from where I was standing when I took the first picture.

Refreshing after three hours driving through a snowstorm less than two days earlier.

Some crazy Platypus-lookin' turtle.

Come here boy.

Pretty.

If I had any idea whatsoever what this was, I would totally tell you.

Yours truly.

The view from one end of the Garden. Impressive place.

Well that’s all for tonight.  More coming tomorrow.

Aren’t palm trees in January lovely?

Enough about me, what do you think?
