Some Cool-lookin’ Power Plant Photos – Part 1

Well, while I was looking through the literally thousands of pictures on my blackberry and computer looking for funny crap for the last couple posts, I realized I had more than a couple of pictures of power plants that were actually kinda nice.  If not pretty, they’re at least aesthetically pleasing.

I know it’s hard to imagine a power plant that way.  Yes they’re industrial, and plenty of them are filthy and horrible for the environment, however not as many as you might think.  There definitely are some totally immaculate power plants, and I don’t care what the Sierra Club tells you, clean coal DOES exist.  And not that I’m the foremost authority on the subject, but I have a rather unique and quite informed position.  Trust me, go see a power plant in China and then go to well-run facility here, you’ll know what I’m talking about.  But I digress entirely, and we’ll get into that later.

Any who, I think some of these are downright pretty in their own little way.  But maybe it’s an acquired taste that you all haven’t had the chance to acquire, and you’ll disagree with me entirely, but I’m cool with that.  Ok I’m done, here’s the pictures.

The Deely station in San Antonio, TX. Took this picture years ago on my very first true service call...

Last night at the Keystone station in Shelocta, PA

One of my favorites. Sunrise on a chilly morning at the Cholla plant in Holbrook, AZ.

The Brandon Shores plant in Baltimore, MD. Right on the coast of the Chesapeake Bay.

View of the Pacific and a truly massive coal barge from the roof of the Boryeong plant in the town of the same name in South Korea.

Finally, sunset through the steam at the Neurath plant in Grevenbroich, Germany

I got lots more of these, so lemme know if you liked ’em.   It’s bed time.
